Americans Opposed to Health Care Reform

After trying to make sure that the left-wing organizers, including the purple people eaters of the SEIU and ACORN, showed up to his town hall meeting last night, Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) was still booed by an overflow crowd.  Arlen Specter also faced a hostile crowd this morning at a town hall meeting in which he claimed that he is a defender of the Constitution.  Obama, in his town hall meeting today, pointed to the competition between FedEx, UPS, and the postal service as a reason that the private sector will be able to compete with the government on health care as well.

 

The White House will not back Nancy Pelosi on her claim that town hall protestors are "Un-American."

 

Only 32% of voters across the country support a single-payer health care system, with 57% opposed.  Meanwhile, public support for the Democrats' plan has fallen to a new low of just 42%, with 53% opposed.

 

The White House continues to claim that health care reform would not add to the deficit, despite the fact that the Congressional Budget Office says otherwise.  The CBO also says that preventive care, which Democrats claim will cut health care costs, will actually increase costs.

 

Sarah Palin was right about federal bureaucrats making end-of-life decisions for the American people.  One of the health care bills will also require parents to accept government agents into their homes to tell them how to parent.

 

The Obama administration is planning on repealing a ban on tracking how people use Government websites.  I can see where this could lead.

 

The increase in the minimum wage was probably responsible for destroying one out of every four jobs lost last month.

 

Even government watchdogs aren't sure where the bank bailout money went.

 

President Obama says that immigration reform (read:  amnesty) will have to wait until next year.  Lindsay Grahamnesty is already chomping at the bit to help make sure it passes.

 

Moe Lane at RedState.com points out that the cash-for-clunkers program is either very popular or very unpopular, depending on whom you ask.  Is anybody else noticing the change in marketing on the cash-for-clunkers program by car dealers?

 

House Democrats have dropped their plans to force the Pentagon to buy them fancy jets.

 

Georgia colleges are furloughing employees, cutting jobs, and even eliminating classes to balance their budgets.  If only local school boards would take note.

 

The state is spending $1500 per sign to announce projects that are funded by the "stimulus" package.

 

A swastika was painted outside of Rep. David Scott's office.  It wouldn't surprise me if this was done by liberals to try and frame conservatives as racists and bigots.

 

Governor Perdue's staff announced their furloughs today, and apparently Governor Perdue already took his furlough days.  Did anybody notice?

 

Congressman Marshall is going to have two town hall meetings in Houston County.  One will not be open to the public, and one has a yet-to-be-determined time and location, but will be on August 24.  We're still waiting for Marshall's office to finish their town hall schedule.

Criticism of Obamacare "Un-American"

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer called critics of Obamacare "Un-American."  Meanwhile, Democrat members of Congress continue to try and get their union thugs and other supporters into town hall meetings by begging liberals to come and even paying them to help push Obamacare through the permanent Obama campaign apparatus.  The drug lobby is also spending $150 million in television advertising to push support for Obamacare.

 

As town hall meetings across the country, including in Memphis, Tennessee, turn raucous, some members of Congress, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, are calling off public town hall meetings because they just can't stand the heat.  The location of that town hall meeting that turned violent thanks to the SEIU has decided they don't want any more union thugs causing problems in their school, so they cancelled an event with Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO).  Here in Georgia, Rep. David Scott (no relation) had a meltdown at a meeting in Douglasville which you can watch here.

 

Sarah Palin has once again made liberal heads explode by referring to Obamacare as "evil."  In reality, she's right, since it will lead to health care rationing.  Another problem is that wages will stagnate.  With Obama saying that a Canadian system wouldn't work in the United States, why does he continue to push for one?  A majority of Americans are also more afraid of government than they are of insurance companies.

 

After the story last week about Cuba running out of toilet paper, is it the best idea to be extolling the virtues of the Cuban health care system?

 

Unintended consequences:  the cash-for-clunkers program could drive used car prices up, ironically hurting the poor, who buy used cars, the most.  Birther, Congressman, and candidate for Governor Nathan Deal voted present on extending the cash-for-clunkers program.  Somebody needs to tell him that a Governor can't vote present.

 

Those two bubble-headed "journalists" working for Al Gore who were taken prisoner in North Korea were in more danger on the plane ride home with Slick Willy than they were in North Korea.  They were just a bargaining chip, and Kim Jong-Mentally-Il got exactly what he wanted:  legitimacy.

 

The Obama Justice Department is considering a criminal investigation into CIA interrogation practices.

 

California could get nine extra seats in the House of Representatives that it doesn't deserve because the Census will count criminal aliens.

 

Tax Cheat Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has asked Congress to increase the federal debt limit.  Congress will roll over and do it, with maybe a handful of votes against it.

 

Some businesses in Rhode Island were closed because they did not pay sales tax revenue to the state.  I'm on the state's side in this one.

Liberal Thugs Turn Town Halls Violent

In the day when the White House told Democrats to "punch back twice as hard," some liberals took their orders too literally last night, as health care town halls turned violent in Tampa and St. Louis.  In Tampa, an SEIU Astroturfed event for Rep. Kathy Castor turned violent after the union members tried to prevent anti-Obamacare constituents from even entering the room.  Castor will now only have a telephone town hall meeting.  In St. Louis, after Democrats snuck their union thugs in the back door to the event for Rep. Russ Carnahan, six people were arrested after an attack on a black conservative activist.  The former community organizer (read:  left-wing agitator) doesn't seem to like it when people get in his supporter's faces.

 

In other, more peaceful town hall meetings, Rep. Jack Kingston had a large turnout of anti-Obamacare citizens for an event in Waycross, and in a suburb of Houston, Texas doctors jammed a town hall meeting to oppose the bill.

 

Conservative opposition is getting so strong that now labor unions have jumped into the debate and Harry Reid is accusing the opposition of having no ideas and just following the orders of talk show hosts and insurance companies.  The Democrats' biggest problem is the American people, who like their private-sector insurance.

 

In an apparent effort to kill their members, the AARP has officially endorsed the Obamacare bill in the House.  AARP organizers at a local "listening session" left the meeting when their members started to oppose the Obamacare bill.

 

The unemployment rate for July was 9.4%, lower than in June, and of course the media and the Obama administration is spinning this to mean that the stimulus package is helping the economy recover.  They are ignoring what they always trotted out during the Bush administration, the number of discouraged workers, which was up from June.  The unemployment rate could be 10.7% or higher.

 

Now environmentalist wackos are coming up with the idea of creating "cloud ships" to cut down on global warming.  This is the closest thing to the way that the earth does it.

 

The federal deficit has hit $1.3 trillion for the year.  The United States is already bankrupt.

 

Guess who's back to the government trough?

 

President Obama wants conservatives to just shut up, as he continues to blame us for the economy.

Obama Approval Down on Policies

On day 200 of the administration, President Obama's approval ratings have dropped to 50% following failures on the economy and a 13% disapproval rate on health care.  After six months, more people view Obama as a failure than did Bush at the same time.  Also, 71% of voters say that Obama's policies have driven up the deficit.

 

According to Nancy Pelosi, the woman who will be putting together the three bills in the House, said that us right-wing extremist astroturfers who are bought and paid for by the insurance companies are carrying swastikas into town hall meetings.  Another Democrat Congressman, Brian Baird, will not hold any town hall meetings because he fears being "ambushed" by Republican "lynch-mobs."  Democrats are starting to get away from the idea of the public option, with Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT) saying that there is not enough support for the idea in the Senate.  The Wall Street Journal today points out the true cost of Obamacare, which is really a lot higher than what the Democrats are admitting.

 

The Senate will add another $2 billion to the failed cash-for-clunkers program this afternoon, as sales under the program top 180,000.  The part that the Obama administration doesn't want you to know is that people are not buying cars from bailed-out automakers.  Meanwhile, top car dealers are having their own private sector version of the program, and I'd be willing to bet that they won't be destroying the cars that they take in trade.

 

One out of every nine Americans is now on food stamps.  Expect the Democrat talking points to reflect this next election.

 

According to the White House, the "War on Terrorism" is over.  They have banned that, along with "jihadists" and "global war," inside the White House.

Obama Permanent Campaign for Socialism in Full Gear

President Obama, in what is a legacy-building moment, is trying to rally the troops for his socialist health care scheme.  Yesterday he had Democrat Senators to the White House for a pep talk about the health care plan.  He also sent an e-mail to his brownshirts in the permanent campaign urging them to rally in support of Obamacare, and the White House blog yesterday made a post telling people to report "disinformation" about Obamacare to the White House.  You've all become spies for the Administration, and I am asking you to please please PLEASE report me as a source of disinformation.

 

Back in 2008, Hillary Clinton criticized Obama for being a supporter of a single-payer health care system.

Congressman John Barrow has a column today in the Savannah Morning News explaining his vote against the Obamacare bill in the House.  By the way, the government insurance will allow coverage for abortion, so if that's what gets your panties in a bunch then use that to kill this thing.

White House Attacks Drudge

Federal tax revenues have dropped by the largest amount since the Great Depression.  The liberal answer will be to raise taxes, especially on the evil, hated rich, who already pay most of the taxes.  American companies are increasingly sending more money and people offshore.  The liberal answer will be to raise taxes on them too.  Just wait until the Democrats decide to push for a VAT.

 

In response to the Drudge Report posting that video of President Obama advocating a single-payer system, the White House attacked Drudge, accusing him of cherry-picking.  Drudge responded by linking a video of Obama's full speech from 2003 advocating a single-payer system.

 

While the Senate considers extending cash-for-clunkers, John McCain asked a question that pretty much sums up the program:  Why not cash-for-refrigerators?  As the Transportation Department doubles their staff to deal with the additional paperwork required to process all of the clunker requests, the Obama administration is refusing to release data on the program.  James Pethokoukis calls cash-for-clunkers "Obamanomics in microcosm."

 

For the Democrats, town halls have turned into "town hells" because citizens concerned over Obamacare are showing up to protest.  Dick Durbin is even warning his colleagues to beware of the "sucker punch" that they are expecting.

 

A British mother was fined for grieving too long at her baby son's funeral.  It shouldn't surprise you that the crematorium imposing the fine is run by the local government.

 

More Americans are getting concealed carry permits to defend themselves.  It's a shame that this isn't happening where people actually need them, because they can't.

 

Here's some advice that I can take to heart:  Russian soccer fans are urged to drink whiskey to ward off the swine flu.

 

The White House is going to hold a summit on texting while driving.  At least that will be time that Obama can't spend pushing socialist medicine.

 

The latest way to save the planet is to have fewer kids.  Hopefully the breathers will take note.

 

The AJC says that the state's tax-free holiday might not be back next year because the state will need the revenue.  There are other, better reasons for the tax free holiday to not return, but it'll be back next year and every year after.

Obama A Single-Payer Advocate

Somebody did some digging and found some old clips of President Obama and other Democrats supporting a single-payer health care system.  The "public option" is just a step towards that goal, and it is included in the bill that passed the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Friday.  The bill includes something about developing "measurements of gender."  Apparently the equipment between your legs isn't enough anymore.  The bill will increase unfunded liabilities by $9.2 trillion.

 

In a preview of ObamaCare, in (formerly) Great Britain patients with chronic back pain are now being denied injections of pain killers.  Hide Grandma, because she's going to be denied treatment under ObamaCare.  So will fat people, who would be more likely to slim down if they are forced to bear the responsibility of their actions.

 

While the Democrats are trying to run down the best health care system in the world, Americans have increasing confidence in the system we already have.  We need more Americans reading the ten reasons why America's health care system is in better condition than the clowns in Washington claim that it is.  Democrats will spend the next month attacking the health insurance industry, but the real villains are politicians at the state and national level who have ruined health care with mandates and regulations.

 

Unsafe bridges are not getting "stimulus" money because states are too busy spending the money on easier, more "shovel-ready" projects.  Meanwhile, in Oakland, teenagers who got phony-baloney "jobs" from the package are not getting paid.  Despite the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of the stimulus, members of Congress are considering extending some parts of it.

 

As even the New York Times points out that Obama can't pay for all of his dreams and schemes only by taxing the rich, two members of the Obama administration admitted this weekend that they have not taken the idea of taxing the middle class off the table to pay for all that they want to do.  Remember, every Obama promise eventually expires.  How do you like your change now?

 

The Senate will probably vote another $2 billion for the cash-for-clunkers program this week, dealers are milking the program for all it's worth.  The federal government can't handle the volume of paperwork.

After Nancy Pelosi's meltdown yesterday calling the insurance companies "villains," Harry Reid also attacked the insurance companies as part of a larger Democrat strategy for the August recess.  It'll be a tough fight for them to demonize the insurance companies since most Americans like their own insurance coverage, especially as Republicans point out that after five years most Americans could lose their own plan.

 

Blue Dogs might have rolled over, but there was still enough of a concession to make many of the House liberals angry enough to threaten to kill the bill.  The Blue Dogs still, though, voted against an amendment to prevent the surtax from doubling in 2013.  On the good news side, the Senate Finance Committee will not vote on a bill before the August recess.

 

The Obama administration was surprised to find that Americans love what they consider to be free money, and right now plans to shut down the "cash for clunkers" program after this weekend, while the House races in their last day before recess to pass a $2 billion extension to the program.  One car salesman says that "if they can't administer a program like this, I'd be a little concerned about my health insurance."  That just about sums it up, folks, and Doug Powers says that will be enough to help kill Obamacare.  The Heritage Foundation says that it was doomed to fail from the start.

 

A poll commissioned by the Daily Kos (so I'm not sure how much I trust it) shows that 28% of Republicans don't believe Obama was born in America.  See how that works when it comes time to take back Congress next year.

Nancy Pelosi finally came unhinged in talking about insurance companies today.  This comes as liberals are unhappy with the deal that was made with the Blue Dogs and President Obama is losing a lot of support on health care and in his overall job performance.  With no vote coming on healthcare until October, we may have been successful in putting this off.

 

The House health care bill includes the establishment of "medical homes" for the elderly and disabled.  This is terrifying.

 

Even with the Blue Dogs' compromise yesterday, keep in mind that the history of government health care always shows skyrocketing costs which will inevitably be paid for by workers, while significant profits will be realized by lawyers.

 

Here's a parasite story that explains the high costs of health care from New York.  It's all about somebody not wanting to pay for themselves.

President Obama had his town hall meeting yesterday with the old and senile wing of the Democrat Party, more commonly known as the AARP, and somebody actually asked him about end of life issues.  Obama never answered the question truthfully, but the Heritage Foundation published what would be the effect of ObamaCare on seniors.  HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says that fighting obesity is one of the major goals of ObamaCare, probably by taxing foods that the health Nazis don't like.

 

House Democrats have managed to come to a compromise with the Blue Dogs to cut the cost of their bill by $100 billion.

Guess which then-Senator-elect complained in 2004 about the Bush Administration rushing legislation through Congress without time to debate or read it?  Here's a hint:  he is now President of the United States.

 

The birthers won't go away, which is causing a real headache for Republicans.  White House Press Secretary was even asked about that yesterday, and Lou Dobbs has even gotten on board with the conspiracy theory.

 

The Senate Judiciary Committee approved Sonia Sotomayor for the Supreme Court by a 13-6 vote.  The only Republican to vote for her was Lindsey Graham.

 

You have to love this headline:  July has been disaster for Obama, Hill Dems.

 

Obese people cost the country an estimated $147 billion last year just for health care.  In response, the health Nazis want to tax food that they consider bad and even sodas.

 

Democrats are also considering a tax on plastic surgery to raise revenue for socialized medicine as they acknowledge that they will not pass a bill in either side of Congress this week and the Democrats even consider dropping some of their core goals in an attempt to gain Republican support.  Republicans, by the way, have yet to release their own version of a health care bill.  If you needed to know why Republicans are in so much trouble, there's your answer.

 

Despite the fact that old people will be denied health care and pushed into their death beds by socialized health care, the AARP had a town hall meeting with Obama earlier this afternoon.

 

Investor's Business Daily says that socialist medicine is a form of reparations from an allegedly post-racial President.

 

A majority of Americans believe that health care costs will rise under socialist medicine, and a plurality of Americans is opposed to the Democrats' plans.

Cash-for-clunkers has started, and it turns out that it will not have the effect that the politicians claimed that it would have, and it may hurt private charities.

 

Stimulus money has gone to pay for toilet repairs and for ham.  In St. Louis, about 1600 teenage workers did not get their paychecks on time for their so-called "stimulus jobs."  After Arizona Senator Jon Kyl suggested ending the "stimulus" spending the governor of Arizona received a letter threatening to cut off all stimulus spending in that state.  To add insult to injury, the most anti-lobbyist administration in history has lifted restrictions on lobbyists asking for money for stimulus projects.  The American people are starting to get it, as only 25% of voters believe that the "stimulus" has helped the economy.

 

The socialized medicine bill continues to be honed by the Democrats as they try to push it through Congress, but the more the public sees the worse this thing gets.  The Congressional Budget Office exposed the lie that the Democrats' bill would result in health care savings, as people would use more rather than less health care because it would appear free.  Democrats are also trying to start taxing what they call "gold plated" health insurance policies because only the hated rich have those.  Even though the CBO said that the House bill would cost over $1 trillion, there are some sections of the bill that were not even included because of the language in the bill.  Congressman John Conyers (D-Michigan) says that there is no point even reading the bill because he won't understand what it says anyway.  Right now, it looks like the bill will not pass because there aren't even enough Democrats supporting it to make it law.

 

Democrats are censoring the constituent communications of Congressman John Carter (R-TX) because they don't like the fact that he described their health plan as "government run."

 

In Oregon, some terminally ill patients have been denied care from their state-run insurance program and offered assisted suicide instead.  If you think that won't happen nationally, then think again.  There is a provision in the bill that requires end-of-life counseling for old people.  You'll also lose the freedom to make choices in your health care, and your doctor will lose the ability to decide with you what health care choices to make.

 

All of the support for the bailouts could end up costing $23.7 trillion, or about one and a half times the size of the whole United States economy.

 

A conservative kiosk will not be allowed at a mall in Charlotte because some people got offended and because the owners of the mall are Democrat donors.  This is the mall's right.

The Warner Robins City Council voted down raises for themselves unanimously last week.  Just three weeks ago there was plenty of support for the idea on the council.  Then we got to it.

 

Clifford Holmes will run for mayor in Warner Robins.  Donald Walker will be re-elected.

 

The Houston County Board of Education had two of their public meetings last week on the proposed millage rate increase.  The first meeting had about twenty people, while at the second meeting only one person showed up.  Unless there is a large public outcry, they will proceed with this.

 

Houston County Commissioners are also working on raising taxes, with only a little bit of opposition.

 

Governor Perdue announced last week that teachers will take 3 furlough days and all state agencies will face an approximately 5% budget cut.  Houston County schools will close for two days to cut costs, while Peach County will go to a four-day school week to save money.

Americans Against Socialist Medicine

While the Senate is starting to delay on socialist medicine, the House is pushing forward, with two committees passing their portions of the bill today.  The Wall Street Journal points out that the high earners who will be hit with the massive new income taxes will probably legally stop paying the taxes, while Nancy Pelosi thinks she's going to be able to confiscate so much income from high achievers that she'll be able to reduce the deficit, which is either dishonest or ignorant.  Remember, the CBO scored the House socialist medicine bill at a little over $1 trillion, but considering their record with predicting the cost of entitlement programs it might be reasonable to expect it to cost about $6 trillion by the time it's implemented.  Right now, Americans oppose the House bill by a 50-42 margin and oppose the idea of a government health insurance company by a 50-35 margin.

 

Protests are back in Iran, and the police responded with tear gas.  We should be supporting this.  In Honduras, ousted would-be tyrant and dictator Manuel Zelaya is calling for a civil war to get his power back.  We should not be supporting that.

 

Now the White House's spin is that the "stimulus" bill was never meant to stimulate the economy, but to "stabilize" the downturn.  At this point, if the economy recovers they can't claim any credit, but if it continues to tank it's on them.  The RNC is responding with Obama vs. Obama on the stimulus.

 

Clown Prince Vice President Joe Biden told the old people's wing of the Democrat Party, the AARP, that the government has to spend money to keep from going bankrupt.  The Congressional Budget Office, which is both nonpartisan and nonstupid, says otherwise.

 

Until the request showed up on the Drudge Report yesterday evening, the Bureau of the Public Debt was looking for a humorist.  Senator Byron Dorgan killed that, and destroyed a few jobs in the progress.

 

The labor unions are giving up on one part of the "card check" bill.  Chances are they won't get a bill now; it's just too late.

Public Option Not an Option

The Senate Finance Committee is threatening to hit insurance companies with $100 billion worth of new taxes to pay for their version of the socialist medicine bill.  Of course, if you look at the House Democrats' version, that won't matter anyway because if they pass it there won't be a private insurance industry.  As a nurses group lines up in support of socialist medicine, House committees are pushing towards votes on their bill that may fail thanks to the Blue Dogs, who actually appear to be relevant for once.  As much as the Democrats like to talk about the fact that health care reform will cut costs, the Congressional Budget Office says that, as we all know, health care will cost the federal government more money on health care under the Democrats' plans, and Massachusetts is being sued by a hospital that is losing money under their government-run health insurance plan.  If you're unemployed, at least you can find a job paying between $11-16 per hour to campaign for socialist medicine.

 

Economist Stephen Moore calls President Obama's economic policies "the greatest threat to freedom and liberty in our lifetime."  More people need to say this.

 

President Obama's approval rating has dropped by 9 points in the last month.  People are finally figuring out what they voted for, and they don't like it.

 

Members of the House who voted for cap-and-tax are being hammered by their constituents.  Keep it up, folks, right up to the point where you kick them out of office.  Then start following up on their replacement.

 

The IRS has failed to collect taxes from 18 percent of all filers who owe more than $1 million per year.  This is the same government that Democrats want to run your health care.

 

The debate continues to rage over whether the F-22 is worth the money.  It definitely is not worth the money if it is only as a pork project for some Senators.

The Social Security Administration had a $700,000 taxpayer-funded junket at a high-end resort in Phoenix, Arizona last week.

 

A South Carolina judge declared the state law barring underage drinking unconstitutional.  If an 18-year-old can fight and die for America, why can't that same 18-year-old drink alcohol?

 

State lawmakers are going to give up one day's pay per month through at least the rest of the calendar year, including Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle.  That will save the state a grand total of about $140,000.
