Nancy Pelosi telling Dems to Support Drilling, Still Blocks Vote

Nancy Pelosi is telling Democrats who are at risk or in conservative districts that they can publicly support drilling.  She's taking a gamble by attracting all of the blame for not allowing a vote on drilling because she knows that it would pass and she's too busy trying to "save the planet."

Meanwhile, Republicans are threatening to shutdown the government again over the drilling issue.  Maybe they're finally starting to man up…

…Or not.  The White House refuses to call a special session of Congress, saying that it won't make a difference.  They just don't get it—the best way to beat a liberal is to make them state publicly who they are and what they believe.

The Republicans' wimpiness is the reason that they are losing voters to the Democrats.  That, and the fact that a majority of Americans just want to vote for the candidate who is going to do more for them.

Bill Clinton was given a golden chance to endorse Barack Obama, and he passed on the opportunity.  He's still bitter that his wife lost to the Messiah.

More women would rather go on vacation or carpool with the Messiah than with John McCain.

Finally, a fence is being built on the southern border.  There are just a few things it's missing…like, say, an electric current.

One step forward, two steps back:  The Bush administration is extending a program that allows Mexican trucks access to the United States.  How many of those trucks will be filled with illegal immigrants?

American athletes are beginning to arrive in China for the Olympics.  Some American cyclists were wearing respiratory masks since Beijing is one of the most polluted cities in the world.

This column in the Boston Globe tries (unsuccessfully) to explain and convert global warming heretics.  Sorry, I'm not buying into this religion.

The biggest economic threat to the United States is not irresponsible people who can't pay their mortgages; it's the big government entitlement programs.  Government at all levels has $61.7 trillion in unfunded liabilities.

The lawyer for the Pakistani man who killed his daughter for wanting a divorce from her arranged marriage in Atlanta last month says that it was not an "honor killing."  I don't care what you call it, it's still fundamentalist Islam at its finest.

More than one of every four flights in the United States was late in the first half of the year.

The Iraqi government has $79 billion in oil revenues, and yet we're still building their infrastructure?  More importantly, why is that the government's money?  Aren't we supposed to be giving them freedom?

Fairfax County, Virginia schools are installing surveillance cameras to cut down on lunch food theft.

AOL is considering getting rid of dialup internet access.  I didn't even realize that people still used dialup.

Female police officers in Germany are going to get new bras.  The media has deceptively called these "bullet proof bras," which to me is just a tease.
