Possible Vote on ODAB Tonight

President Obama says that "the time for talk is over, the time for action is now" on the ODAB.  He still hasn't said that he likes either bill, only that something has to be done, and it needs to be done by Democrats, and Republicans need to just get out of the way.  It's all about image.  After all, who cares if the Congressional Budget Office says that the ODAB would be bad for the economy in the long term?

The ODAB is facing a few cuts to get Republican votes, but it's not enough even for Democrat Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad.  Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that he hopes that there will be a vote this evening.

Since they are headed for a vote, it is time to start calling Senators, especially Arlen Specter, who apparently is leading the moderate charge for the ODAB.  Maybe you folks can change the minds of those three Republicans who allegedly have already decided to join the Democrats.

Obama also wants to use the federal government to refinance mortgages by cutting the principle of mortgages for homes that have lost value.  Senate Republicans tried to put into the ODAB last night language that would have allowed refinancing with lower interest rates, which the Democrats killed last night.

Treasury Secretary and tax cheat Timothy Geithner plans to introduce a plan to buy toxic assets from banks next week.

President Obama made the decision last night to drop charges in military tribunals at Guantanamo Bay.  If they get tried at all now, it will be in civilian courts.

Pakistan released the father of the Muslim nuke, AQ Khan, and the White House has no clue about it.

Here's your stupid political quote of the day, from National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions.

This was in yesterday's post-show post, but Democrat Senator Debbie Stabenow wants to bring back the Fairness Doctrine.

Another prudish State Representative is out there criticizing the University System for having experts on topics such as oral sex.

The State House voted unanimously today to leave in March and return in June so they can wait for the ODAB to come down the pipe.

State Senators voted today to double the homestead exemption.  Here come higher millage rates.  They also voted to fund the property tax grants this year, but probably not next year.

The state's budget situation could get worse, as state tax collections are down 14%.
