Dems Dump Government Option?

Democrats negotiating the takeover of the health care system by the federal government are considering dropping the full-blown government option in favor of another government option that would be run by the same bureaucracy that runs federal employees' health insurance plans.  Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) wants to make sure that ultimately the government is running health care, not the evil private sector.  The alleged compromise will still cost taxpayers trillions of dollars.  On the political front, Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE) is considering reneging on his plan to filibuster the final bill if it funds abortion.  Democrats are also considering skipping the Conference Committee and sending the Senate bill straight back to the House.

Obama's jobs creation plan sounded a lot like a second stimulus package, which wasted money on such job-creating programs like studying the behavioral traits of ant colonies and on studying why men don't like wearing condoms.  The new stimulus would include more of the same, plus "cash for caulkers."  Getting out of the way would be a real economic stimulus.

Environmentalists in Copenhagen are still trying to cripple the United States' economy as the Obama administration uses Soviet-style language to describe their regulation of carbon dioxide.  The environmentalists are vain enough to blame us humans rather than that big fireball in the sky for the earth's variations in temperature.  Environmentalists have already destroyed 500 West Virginia coal jobs.

Obama is going to meet with bank executives face-to-face to get them to lend more money in an attempt to get the economy moving again.  I have a feeling he'll make them an offer they can't refuse.

Erick Erickson says that House Republicans need to seriously turn their ship around as far as their leadership is concerned, and he is endorsing Tom Graves for speaker.  Meanwhile, Rep. Larry O'Neal is actively running for speaker.  State Rep. Rich Golick, Gov. Perdue's former floor leader, is running for speaker pro tem.
