Unemployment Drops As It Should In November

Unemployment last month dropped to 10% as employers shed fewer jobs than in previous months.  I wouldn't count on this lasting, because this is a hiring time for many businesses most years anyway, and Obama policies are doing nothing to create jobs, despite his jobs summit yesterday.

Obama is likely to use what's left of the bailout money for "job creation," which Nancy Pelosi is supporting.  Spending lots of taxpayer dollars has just done wonders for creating jobs so far, so why not try more?

This is the best wrap-up I've seen yet on Climategate.  Meanwhile, ahead of next week's warmer summit in Copenhagen, a top warmer scientist says that the summit will be a "disaster" because global warming is like Nazism and slavery.  Denmark has passed a cap-and-trade system that is full of fraud, but at least the prostitutes are free for the summit!  Meanwhile, Houston, Texas got its earliest snowfall ever recorded today.  I guess this lady who wants to ban Christmas to save the planet might want to loosen up and reconsider.

Nancy Pelosi likes the idea of a transaction tax on Wall Street but not (for now) a tax to pay for the war in Afghanistan.  The House yesterday voted to increase the death tax, and both Jim Marshall and Sanford Bishop voted for it.

Those Navy SEALs facing court martial for allegedly punching an Islamist terrorist could face up to a year in military prison.

Germany is going to finish paying off their World War I reparations next year.

Is Ayn Rand bad for the libertarian movement?  Cato's Dan Mitchell says no.

There is a shortage of Eggo waffles.  It's time for price controls and rationing.

Apparently I'm not the only one tired of hearing about Tiger Woods.  80% of Americans say the media is paying too much attention to him.

The Surgeon General wants more minorities in medicine.  I don't give a flying fornication what color my doctor's skin is.  The Congressional Black Caucus is also trying to get some special support for minority-owned broadcasters.

Incoming State House Speaker Mark Burkhalter is already making plans to stick around for a while, since he withdrew his name from consideration to be the executive director of the World Congress Center.  He is already planning on waiting the maximum 120 days before calling for elections for a new Speaker.  Burkhalter says he is going to work to change the image of the Capitol, especially since the Richardson affair has shown some of the problems with lobbyists under the Gold Dome.  At the very least, Burkhalter is a tax cutter, even though he might have his own issues with lobbyists and ethics.  Peach Pundit's Buzz Brockway has some very good advice for the new speaker.
